As a regular in Westerly or a tourist you'll find that each of the different sections of town and especially each of the beaches has its own vibe. Taylor Swift recently made local history when she closed on a 17.75 million dollar mansion overlooking Watch Hill, which is one of the most prestigious neighborhoods in all of New England. Outside Watch Hill, the Avondale, Weekapaug, and Misquamicut neighborhoods are highly sought after locations as well.
Once you get into Town, there's a whole new vibe, plenty of multifamily homes for owner occupants and investors, as well as smaller single families. There are also tons of great local restaurants, shopping and magnificent waterfront views. Outside the town and the beach section there is a more rural/suburban, northern section of town that benefits from the low tax rate generated by all the luxury homes surrounding the beaches. The neighborhoods off Potter Hill Road, running perpendicular to the Pawcatuck River, are a great place to reside, characterized by larger lot sizes, a ton of opportunities for new construction and newer homes in a mid level price point.
